On Friday, Nov. 11 (that was 11.11.11 and Veterans Day) our 111th store opened in Louisville, Ky. Pretty neat, huh?
When Shannon Hagan was approached by a loyal customer about sponsoring the Ms. Louisiana pageant with a few cups of free yogurt, she immediately agreed – but had something much more elaborate up her sleeve. With a smattering of tiaras, balloons and hot pink bowties, Hagan turned her Orange Leaf store in Monroe into a red carpet destination for Ms. Louisiana royalty.
When Bossier City store owner Tracey Porter discovered that a local family was struggling to cope with their youngest daughter’s life-threatening illness, she took action and rallied customers to help. When a 6-year-old girl was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, her family’s world turned upside down and faced drastic change. She was soon transferred to Texas Children’s Hospital in Dallas for treatment, presenting her family with the extra burden of travel expenses.
Our super-sassy New Braunfels Orange Leaf franchisee, Nusha Pelicano, is passionate about creating a healthier community through exercise and good eating habits. She’s a fast-talkin’ running enthusiast who decided to get her community moving. In an effort to promote her store, and an improved healthier lifestyle for her fellow New Braunfels neighbors, Pelicano hosted a Half Marathon, complete with Orange Leaf jerseys and branded medals.
On May 22, 2011 a devastating EF5 tornado ripped through the center of Joplin, Missouri, severely damaging three-fourths of the city in a matter of minutes. Jacob Knorpp, owner of the Orange Leaf Yogurt store in Joplin, was among the lucky few who suffered minimal damage to his place of business. That night, the Orange Leaf employees on duty and several customers waited out the storm in the store’s bathrooms and thankfully, no one was injured.
Who doesn’t love a Girl Scout in uniform? More specifically, who doesn’t love a Girl Scout in uniform handing out yummy cookies? We wanted to partner with this delicious organization to add some fun to the toppings bar – and give back to our troops…and our troops!
